About

Welcome to my blog. I am a twenty-something German and I’veĀ been struggling with my weight for the longest time. Because I know that losing weight isn’t just about dieting and dropping the extra pounds, I consider this blog not just a weight loss blog, but a healthy living blog, focusing on all things related to living a healthy and active life.

Me at about 95 kg (210 lbs) in July 2011

In the summer of 2011, I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. Losing weight and working out regularly have become priorities for me, essential for staying healthy. I am also currently on Metformin to lower my insulin levels and help with the weight loss. After years of doing Weight Watchers, I have shifted to tracking calories (using MyFitnessPal). Radically changing my lifestyle has become more important than ever, and I’d love for you to join me on this journey.

If you also have PCOS and/or IR, I would love to hear from you.

My before my 10k at about 82 kg (180 lbs) in December 2011

In August, I picked up running again, and after completing C25K and running a 5K race on October 2nd, I started following Jane Wake’s 10K training plan.
Running 3-4 times a week, I prepared for my first 10k which I signed up for on a whim just a little over a week before it took place. I ran my first 10k on December 3rd.

I also attend Zumba classes once a week. Zumba is my favorite workout ever, it’s so fun it hardly feels like exercise. As it is currently winter, I have cut down a little on running, and started incorporating more strength training into my workouts. I have been doing the 30 Day Shred regularly, and bought a few more of Jillian Michaels’ DVDs that I want to give a try soon. I also signed up for a belly dance class which starts in February.

Follow me along as I change my lifestyle to become healthier, thinner, and happier.
